פישנצ‘יפס

Fishnchips is a kosher fish-and-chips stall in Machane Yehuda Market, at 12 HaEgoz Street — battered fried fish with potato or sweet-potato chips. The stall was set up by Shlomi and Aviram, who came back from a trip abroad with the idea of bringing the British classic to the market, and the fish comes from the family's fish stall on HaTut Street. The fish — cod, salmon or tuna — is dipped in a beer-and-mustard batter and served with chips and a choice of sauces. It's street food: you order at the counter, and there are a few tables and benches. Closed on Shabbat. On Thursday evening, when HaEgoz Street fills with people out for the night, it makes a quick meal between the bars; on Friday the market is packed until midday and empties after that.
