Jachnun Bar is a Yemenite food counter on HaEgoz Street in Machane Yehuda Market, making jachnun and malawach on the spot; kosher dairy under the Jerusalem Rabbinate. It has been in the market for more than a decade. The jachnun comes with grated tomato, a hard-boiled egg and zhug for around ₪26–28, and next to it there is stuffed rolled malawach, shakshuklawach (malawach filled with shakshuka), malawach toast with yellow cheese, and ptut – fried pieces of malawach with eggs and cheese. Most dishes cost ₪33–45. The dough is tossed in the air in front of the queue, and the malawach is ready within minutes. Open from 09:00 into the night, on Friday until the afternoon, and it reopens on Saturday night after Shabbat until 01:00. Packs of frozen jachnun are also sold to take home.
