What is open in Jerusalem on Shabbat?

Most of the city closes from Friday afternoon until Saturday night, and public transport stops. A significant minority stays open: some restaurants and cafés, several museums, the Old City sites, and the parks. Our Shabbat guide lists what is open each week with addresses and hours.

How many days do you need in Jerusalem?

Two full days cover the Old City and Machane Yehuda market. Three to four let you add the Israel Museum or Yad Vashem, a viewpoint at sunset, and neighbourhoods like Ein Karem and the German Colony.
