The Pereg Factory Store in Machane Yehuda Market, at 55 Etz HaChaim Street, sells olive oil from the company's own olive press, along with the brand's homemade spreads and salads. Pereg is a family spice company whose roots go back to the spice trade in Libya, as far back as 1906. In 2007 it opened an olive press at Kibbutz Gal On near Kiryat Gat, buying its olives from the Lachish and Beit Guvrin area. The shop stocks olive oil in various sizes, s'chug, harissa, pilpelchuma, preserved lemon and crushed garlic, and the family's flagship — sumsumia, raw tahini with honey, walnuts and almonds. The salads are gluten-free and contain no preservatives. Pereg's spice shop is on the same street, at 79 Etz HaChaim. The store is closed on Shabbat; on Friday come in the morning, before the market starts to empty out.
