One of Christianity's holiest sites, built over the location where Jesus was crucified, buried, and rose again according to Christian tradition. The church is shared by several Christian denominations—Greek Orthodox, Catholic Franciscan, Armenian, and others—who worship side by side under an arrangement known as the Status Quo.
