In 1964 there were not many shops or bakeries in the market. The place was founded by two cousins who parted ways a few years later: one started Ugat Chen and the other Duvshanit. Over time Ugat Chen took on all kinds of baking — ciabatta, Jerusalem bagel with za'atar, wholemeal pitta and wholemeal ciabatta, cakes, special challahs, garlic bread and more.
