A new Israeli play By: Amnon Levy Directed by: Yehezkel Lazarov Music: Nimrod Etzion Cast: Shlomo Bar-Aba, Rona-Lee Shimon, Henry David, Tali Sharon, Nati Kluger, Noa Ravikovich, Meir Toledano and Gil Weiss Musicians: Keren Ettinger (guitar), Shiraz Rimon (bass), Gili Ganani (keyboards) and Yarden Gadish (drums) In Mea Shearim, a group of women rises up and decides to rebel against the community leadership in order to save one of their own from a miserable and violent marriage. They use the only ancient and effective weapon at their disposal: withholding themselves from their husbands. They refuse to go to the mikveh and begin abstaining from marital relations until their friend is freed from the chains of her marriage. A moving and funny drama that presents a women's struggle for equality in the least expected place. The women of the ultra-Orthodox neighbourhood decide that the value of helping a woman in distress outweighs even the commandment to be fruitful and multiply. They bravely confront the men, suffer boycott and persecution, and nevertheless carry on their struggle despite the heavy price. Second show for subscribers of the Nivcharim series
