A single mother returns to Taipei with her two daughters after years away, planning to open a noodle stand at the city's bustling night market. Her eldest daughter, Ai-en, works at a questionable pizzeria while navigating a complicated relationship with her boss and tension with her mother. Meanwhile, five-year-old Ai-jing is enchanted by the colorful market, which becomes her playground. Family dynamics grow more fraught when the grandfather warns left-handed Ai-jing not to use her left hand because it "belongs to the devil." In her feature directorial debut, Shih-Hsin Tzu collaborates with Sean Baker (Anora), who produced, edited, and co-wrote the film. The film explores themes of family, tradition, and modernity through a child's eyes, painting a tender, wry, and touching portrait of a boisterous family living in an equally vibrant city.
