The poet Altayeb Ghanaim of Baqa al-Gharbiyye is without doubt the most prominent Arab Israeli writer working today, ever since he won the festival's Teva Prize about a decade ago. The son of the editor and poet Mohammed Hamza Ghanaim, who edited the journal Mifgash for a generation, he carries the torch of writing in both languages.
